Grandparents’ Day took place in NKETNS on 10th May. This is an annual event which has been held for the past few years. We invite grandparents of the children in the school to visit their grandchild’s class and talk to the children about their experiences going to school in their youth. After that, we serve tea and coffee in the school hall and all classes come in and perform a song.
The attendance at this year’s event was the biggest so far. We had just over 120 grandparents visiting, some of whom had travelled from places as far afield as Northern Ireland, Kerry and even Scotland. The class visits were very successful and every class in the school benefitted from them. Then everyone repaired to the hall for a well-earned cup of tea and some great entertainment from the children.
Many thanks to the members of the PTA who helped set up the hall, served the tea and coffee and also cleaned up afterwards. This special day would not be possible without their generous assistance.
