What is the SRG?
The SRG is the Student Representative Group. It consists of one boy and one girl from Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes. There are also substitute members from each class. The children are elected by proportional representation and elections take place twice a year, in September and again in February. The SRG meets regularly with the Principal to discuss issues of concern to students and is involved in suggesting and organising events within the school. Recently, the SRG organised the tours of the school for incoming parents on our open day and they also organised a Crazy Hair Day to raise money to buy new benches for the yard. The event raised more than four hundred euro!
SRG Elections 2019-2020
The elections for the next round of the Students’ Representative Group (SRG) will take place during the month of October.
Classes from 3rd to 6th will each elect one boy and one girl to serve on the SRG for the first half of the year.
Pupils running for election make a poster for display in the classroom and also make a speech to their class about why they want to be elected.
There are regular meetings afterwards where the SRG discusses issues of concern to the children in the school and decides what events to help organise.
The next set of elections will be held in February 2020 and during their time in the school, no child can be elected to the SRG more than twice.
